Origin
This coffee comes from the department of Santa Barbara in Honduras, a mountainous region known for its specialty coffees. The SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) designation refers to a high-altitude coffee. It is organically grown.
On the palate
The cup is rich (intensity 6 out of 10): chocolate, fruit and a lively yet balanced acidity. The body is smooth and the finish clean.
How to brew it
Very good in a moka pot and as espresso. As filter coffee, its fruity side comes through more.
Moka pot method: fill the base with water up to the valve, add the ground coffee to the filter basket without tamping, then heat over medium heat. Take the pot off the heat as soon as the coffee starts to gurgle, to avoid bitterness.
Order whole beans for a bean-to-cup coffee machine (De’Longhi, Krups, Philips…) or a grinder, or choose the grind that suits your brewer: espresso machine, moka pot, filter or French press.
