Origin
Blue Mountain coffee comes from the Blue Mountains in eastern Jamaica. The name is protected: only coffee grown within this defined area may bear it. Production is small, making it a sought-after cru around the world.
On the palate
The cup is remarkably smooth: no pronounced bitterness, a discreet acidity, and notes of hazelnut and honey. It is a coffee of balance rather than power, best enjoyed black.
How to brew it
Save it for filter coffee or the French press to enjoy its finesse. Soft water and freshly ground coffee make all the difference.
Moka pot method: fill the base with water up to the valve, add the ground coffee to the filter basket without tamping, then heat over medium heat. Take the pot off the heat as soon as the coffee starts to gurgle, to avoid bitterness.
Order whole beans for a bean-to-cup coffee machine (De’Longhi, Krups, Philips…) or a grinder, or choose the grind that suits your brewer: espresso machine, moka pot, filter or French press.
