Origin
This coffee comes from the Gayo mountains, in the province of Aceh, in the north of the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. It is grown at altitude by smallholders, using organic farming. Sumatran coffees are known for their thick body and character.
On the palate
The cup is rich and intense (7 out of 10). Red berries and floral notes mingle with a slightly spicy edge. The body is dense and the finish long.
How to brew it
Ideal in a moka pot or as espresso, where its body fully expresses itself. In a French press, it becomes fruitier.
Moka pot method: fill the base with water up to the valve, add the ground coffee to the filter basket without tamping, then heat over medium heat. Take the pot off the heat as soon as the coffee starts to gurgle, to avoid bitterness.
Order whole beans for a bean-to-cup coffee machine (De’Longhi, Krups, Philips…) or a grinder, or choose the grind that suits your brewer: espresso machine, moka pot, filter or French press.
