Origin
Costa Rica grows only Arabica and takes great care in processing its coffees. The SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) designation refers to coffee grown at high altitude, whose dense beans ensure a rich, clean cup.
On the palate
The cup is round and highly aromatic. Hazelnut and chocolate come first, followed by a fruity, honeyed finish. The intensity is moderate (5 out of 10), making it a pleasant coffee at any time of day.
How to brew it
Excellent as filter coffee, where its fruity finish shines. In a moka pot or as espresso, it highlights hazelnut and chocolate.
Moka pot method: fill the base with water up to the valve, add the ground coffee to the filter basket without tamping, then heat over medium heat. Take the pot off the heat as soon as the coffee starts to gurgle, to avoid bitterness.
Order whole beans for a bean-to-cup coffee machine (De’Longhi, Krups, Philips…) or a grinder, or choose the grind that suits your brewer: espresso machine, moka pot, filter or French press.

What does SHB mean?
Strictly Hard Bean: a coffee grown at high altitude. The beans are denser and more aromatic.
Is it bitter?
No. It is a round, indulgent coffee with low bitterness.
Which grind should I choose for the Costa Rica SHB?
Excellent as filter coffee, where its fruity finish shines. In a moka pot or as espresso, it highlights hazelnut and chocolate. Choose whole beans for a bean-to-cup machine or a grinder. Otherwise, pick the grind for your brewer: espresso machine (fine), moka pot (fine to medium), filter (medium) or French press (coarse).

Yes. Its notes (hazelnut, chocolate and a fruity finish) pair well with milk, in a nouss-nouss or a cappuccino, and it is just as enjoyable black.
How many cups per bag?
A 125 g bag makes about 17 espressos (at 7 g per cup), and a 250 g bag about 35.
How should I store the Costa Rica SHB?
Keep the bag tightly closed, away from air, light, heat and moisture, at room temperature rather than in the fridge. Once opened, enjoy it within 3 to 4 weeks to get the most out of its aromas.
