Origin
Cuban coffee grows in the mountains of the east of the island, in the Sierra Maestra. Serrano is one of the best-known coffees from Cuba, valued for its roundness and low acidity.
On the palate
The cup is round and full, with pronounced caramel and almost no acidity. A comforting coffee, ideal for those who find African coffees too lively.
How to brew it
It excels in a moka pot and as espresso. With a little milk, it brings to mind caramelised sweetness.
Moka pot method: fill the base with water up to the valve, add the ground coffee to the filter basket without tamping, then heat over medium heat. Take the pot off the heat as soon as the coffee starts to gurgle, to avoid bitterness.
Order whole beans for a bean-to-cup coffee machine (De’Longhi, Krups, Philips…) or a grinder, or choose the grind that suits your brewer: espresso machine, moka pot, filter or French press.

Frequently asked questions
Is Cuba Serrano acidic?
Very little. It is one of the least acidic coffees in our range.
When should I drink it?
At any time of day. Its intensity of 5 out of 10 makes it a balanced coffee.
Which grind should I choose for the Cuba Serrano?
It excels in a moka pot and as espresso. With a little milk, it brings to mind caramelised sweetness. Choose whole beans for a bean-to-cup machine or a grinder. Otherwise, pick the grind for your brewer: espresso machine (fine), moka pot (fine to medium), filter (medium) or French press (coarse).
Can I drink the Cuba Serrano with milk?
Yes. Its notes (caramel) pair well with milk, in a nouss-nouss or a cappuccino, and it is just as enjoyable black.
How many cups per bag?
A 125 g bag makes about 17 espressos (at 7 g per cup), and a 250 g bag about 35.
How should I store the Cuba Serrano?
Keep the bag tightly closed, away from air, light, heat and moisture, at room temperature rather than in the fridge. Once opened, enjoy it within 3 to 4 weeks to get the most out of its aromas.
